The public prosecutor Nenad Savevski stated that he would not comment on political statements, but that the communication with the executive, including contacts with the prime minister, is not a matter of dispute and that it does not affect the independence of the institution. In the context of the complete criticism and statements from the political sphere on the work of the prosecutor, Savevski stated that the public opinion on the results is legitimate, but that the independence of the institution is guaranteed by the Constitution and the laws. At the same time, he informed the prosecutor about the case of espionage in the presidential office, which is in the final phase, and that the subject of “Mazut” is in the final stage before the High Prosecutor’s Office.
– I also stand on the position that there should be no comment on political statements.
