New Flight Routes Boost Tourism to Ohrid
Ohrid, North Macedonia – The destination of Ohrid is poised for increased tourism following the launch of two new direct flight routes from Poland. Approximately 200 Polish tourists arrived in Ohrid earlier this summer, welcomed with traditional Macedonian cuisine, specifically “Jomleze,” a regional specialty representing Macedonian hospitality. Starting Tuesday, June 9th, “Viz Er” will operate flights from Katowice to Ohrid, marking the first time the airline has served this route.
Simultaneously, flights will commence from Wroclaw to Ohrid, also for the first time. Officials anticipate a significant impact on the summer tourist flow within the Ohrid region and the continued development of Ohrid as a key destination. The expansion of flight options is linked to the completion of airfield reconstruction, a project undertaken jointly with the Vice President.
This development represents a key investment in the region, aiming to bolster tourism and showcase the beauty and gastronomy of Ohrid to a wider audience. The Macedonian government is optimistic about the positive effects of these new connections from Katowice and Wroclaw.
