COMBAT AGAINST CORUPTION BY THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE: The Slovenian Parliament has announced the new government on January 15

Janša Forms Cabinet Aimed at National Representation Following Election Results

Nenad Janša, who experienced a narrow defeat in the March elections marking his fourth term as prime minister, has announced the formation of a cabinet intended to represent the entirety of Slovenia. The new appointments will draw from diverse generations and regions across the country, reflecting a shift in the political landscape. Following four years of leadership under Zoran Zaev and a recent victory for Robert Golob, which ultimately failed to secure a majority coalition, Janša addressed the parliament earlier today.

He characterized the incoming ministers as “skilled leaders” and expressed concerns regarding existing government structures. Janša stated a commitment to addressing what he described as “record high salaries” and a “large bureaucracy,” comparing Slovenia to other European nations. He intends to prioritize combating corruption and increasing the autonomy of local authorities.

Furthermore, Janša announced the intention for the Slovene agency STAR to assume control over media outlets. The election victory was secured by Zoran Zaev, however, the inability to establish a stable majority coalition remains a key challenge. Janša’s focus appears to be on establishing a government responsive to the needs of his constituents and implementing reforms within the existing system.

  1. It’s encouraging to see a government prioritizing national representation after the recent election.
