Israel’s Minister Ben-Gvir criticizes the deal with Lebanon: “A serious mistake”

Israeli Minister Ben-Gvir Condemns Lebanon Border Agreement

Jerusalem – Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir has sharply criticized the recently brokered agreement between Israel and Lebanon mediated by the Southern Assessment Dialogue (SAD), describing it as a “serious mistake and a foolish fantasy.” The statement, made on the social network X, reflects Ben-Gvir’s longstanding stance on regional security matters. The minister, known for his assertive rhetoric, expressed concern that the agreement would have detrimental consequences. He argued that it would strengthen Hezbollah and prevent Israel from taking decisive action against the group.

Ben-Gvir stated that Israel must be prepared to address the positions of its allies when necessary. “Hezbollah will only become stronger, and Israel, instead of striking it, will neutralize its position,” Ben-Gvir wrote in his post. He emphasized the importance of Israel maintaining its ability to counter its allies.

The minister’s comments come as discussions continue regarding the terms of the agreement, which aims to establish a demilitarized zone along the Israel-Lebanon border. Ben-Gvir’s strong reaction highlights the ongoing debate within israel regarding the best approach to regional security challenges.
