The airline announced that despite pilot strikes, at least half of scheduled flights would proceed, and flights to the Middle East have been cancelled due to the action. The pilots’ union, “Vereinigung Cockpit,” stated that this strike would be smaller in scale compared to the February 12th strike involving the Cabin Staff Union UFO, which resulted in approximately 800 flight cancellations. The union prompted over 5,000 Lufthansa, Lufthansa Cargo, and Lufthansa CityLine pilots to join a 48-hour strike.
The airline and union remain divided over wage increases for the regional subsidiary “CityLine” and higher pensions for pilots at Lufthansa Cargo and the parent company Lufthansa. The airline condemned the strike as unnecessary escalation, particularly during heightened geopolitical uncertainty stemming from the conflict in Iran, impacting travelers globally. Fertility rates in the EU are significantly lower, standing at 1.34, while in Macedonia, they are 1.44.
Roughly twice as few babies were born in 2024 compared to sixty years ago. Partnership based on blood type was also discussed.
