Кој планира викендов да патува во Солун НАЈДОБРО Е ДА ГО ОДЛОЖИ ПАТУВАЊЕТО

From tomorrow evening, the perimeter road around Thessaloniki will enter a 48-hour closure affecting a highly sensitive traffic corridor. This will directly impact Macedonian citizens traveling over the weekend to the Aegean, the airport, or southern Greece. The disruption will commence on Friday, March 13th, at 23:00 and continue until Sunday, March 15th, at 23:00.

The closure pertains to the eastern inner perimeter road of Thessaloniki, specifically the section between the interchanges K7 Epta Pirgiou and K8 Triandria, in both directions. This is due to the collapse of the “Agiou Pavlou” bridge, part of the extensive Flyover infrastructure project, which has already created significant traffic pressure within the city. Consequently, vehicles will be unable to pass normally and will be diverted through the city’s street network.

Eastbound traffic will utilize routes via Antheoon, Eleftheriou Venizelos, Acropoleos, and Ohi Avenue, while westbound traffic will proceed via Kazimidi Street and other central city roads. Greek police have warned of increased congestion during the weekend, advising freight vehicles to use the Monastirou–Egnatia–Karamandi route. Furthermore, from Saturday 9:00 to 17:00, restrictions will apply to vehicles exceeding 3.5 tons on a wider section of the perimeter road, alongside parking bans in certain city streets until Sunday evening.

For Macedonian drivers, weekend travel through Thessaloniki will require more time, patience, and careful route planning. Those entering the city in late evening hours on Friday and Saturday will be particularly vulnerable to delays as diverted traffic merges with the already congested urban network. Thessaloniki will function as a bottleneck for all movement in this direction.
