Life-long prison for 19 people for terrorist attack on a concert in Moscow

A Russian court has delivered harsh sentences to 19 individuals accused of involvement in the devastating terrorist attack at the “Crocus City Hall” near Moscow on March 22, 2024. The horrific event resulted in the deaths of 149 people and left over 500 injured, as reported by the BBC. Four of the accused, identified as direct perpetrators of the attack, have been sentenced to life imprisonment.

This reflects the severity of their actions and the immense loss of life. Eleven other individuals, accused of providing assistance to the attackers through financial support, weapons, or logistical aid, have also received life sentences. The remaining four accused were handed prison terms ranging from 19 to 22 years.

These individuals were implicated in supporting the attackers’ efforts, including facilitating the theft of a vehicle and securing access to a railway station. At the time of the assault, approximately 6,000 people were present at the rock concert held within the building. The attackers breached the venue and initiated a destructive rampage, causing widespread damage and tragically leading to the deaths of so many people.

The investigation continues, and these individuals are now serving their sentences, reflecting the gravity of the crime and the suffering endured by the victims and their families.
