Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski stated that the government has achieved significant advancements within the agricultural sector. During a visit to the Ilinden municipality, Mickoski observed marked improvements in the agricultural situation over the past year. He highlighted several areas of progress, including the enhanced capability of flood defenses and the stability of water supply for these defenses.
According to the Prime Minister, the effectiveness of flood defenses has substantially increased, moving from an estimated 8% effectiveness last year to over 70% currently. Mickoski noted that these improvements are attributed to the government’s efforts, stating that the capacity of the flood defenses has been increased tenfold through dedicated work. Furthermore, Mickoski reported growth in agricultural production.
He pointed to the regular payment of subsidies and the general improvement in the execution of previous initiatives. Specific improvements noted included increases in both the production levels and the purchase prices for key crops such as tomatoes and cucumbers. These developments, according to the Prime Minister, indicate a significant upturn in the agricultural sector’s performance.
