Multiple vessels, including several cargo ships, were observed in the vicinity of the port of Suda in Crete. Footage captured the interaction between two vessels, the cargo ship “Eirós” and the cargo ship “József K,” while they were waiting within the port area. At the time of the incident observed, the “Eirós” was navigating a regular line of traffic, which included an estimated 100 units of vehicles, 32 cars, and 74 trucks.
Additionally, another cargo ship carrying 84 trucks was also reported to be waiting for docking procedures. The video footage highlighted a moment of significant concern, showing the two ships approaching each other within a very short distance, an encounter that reportedly could have been avoided. Following a strong impact, initial reports confirmed that there was no resulting fuel damage or sea oil spill.
It was noted that the cargo ship involved was anchored at the time the incident took place. The footage underscores the concentration of maritime activity and the critical nature of navigation protocols in busy port environments.
