Macedonia ranks among the nations boasting the largest membership within party structures. Research indicates a notable lack of connection between citizens and political parties, alongside minimal engagement and interest in both established and less-supported parties. This finding emerged from a comparative study of electoral systems conducted by international organizations, the results of which were presented by the rector of the University “St.
Cyril and Methodius.”
The presentation featured political scientists Prof. Dr. Aneta Cekic and Dr.
Jovan Bliznakovski, who engaged in discussions alongside Ilina Mangova and other experts. Prof. Dr.
Marko Krtilica also contributed to the event. Greetings were extended by rector Prof. Dr.
Biljana Angelova, IPSPI director Prof. Dr. Petar Atanasov, IFSES in North Macedonia director Jovan Kosma, and ICDCS program director Misha Popovic.
The study, carried out by KIIS/CSES, highlighted a concerning trend regarding citizens’ involvement with political parties and their varying levels of attention to different political groups. This underscores the need for further investigation into the dynamics of political affiliation and public opinion within the country.
