Previously, the Washington-based think tank, the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), reported that Washington incurred $3.7 billion, or nearly $900 million daily, within the first 100 hours of the U.S.-Israeli operation against Iran. This was primarily due to substantial ammunition expenditures.

According to CSIS researchers, Mark Kansian and Chris Park, only a small portion of the estimated $3.7 billion in wartime costs was initially factored into the budget. The majority, $3.5 billion, remained unforeseen. The Pentagon is likely to require additional funding to cover unplanned expenses, potentially presenting a political challenge for the Donald Trump administration and creating another area of resistance to the war.
