The football world emphatically demands justice for FC Bayern Munich. European public opinion insists, and now UEFA must act decisively. The Champions League cannot tolerate such behavior becoming commonplace.
Worldwide protests have erupted, yet UEFA appears constrained. Is this a deliberate disrespect towards opponents? If so, it is unacceptable.
Intentional interference for personal gain represents a far more serious issue. A large crowd and millions watching television witnessed two outstanding Bayern players, Michael Olise and Joshua Kimmich, receive clear yellow cards at the match’s conclusion. With Bayern holding a commanding 6-0 lead against Atalanta away, the return game in Munich is effectively a formality.
Given the threat of one-match suspensions for both, it’s evident they followed the club’s instructions and deliberately sought public warnings. At Atalanta, Musa lost his temper and received a yellow card. Bayern, of course, denies any wrongdoing; Kimmich stated he simply sought a favorable option.
Both will miss the Munich return match and clear their cards for Bayern’s quarter-final against the victor of Real Madrid-Manchester City. Real Madrid has already signaled an intention to file a complaint. UEFA neither confirmed nor denied initiating an official disciplinary procedure, but emphasized its standard investigation of reported incidents.
Norwegian referee Espen Eskjartan noted no “abnormal behavior” in the official protocol, complicating UEFA’s case. Bayern, with a hat-trick against City, secured the coveted “ten” in football! Argentina opposes “final simulations” in Madrid.
